17th September 2011 - Sopio Tournament, Manchester. 

I’m back with a blog~
A tale of a day filled with card tournaments, outfit schedules and stationary wars. ^_^ Under a read more because its pretty long.

So after a few things going on this morning, I basically wasn’t going to the tournament anymore. I texted around everyone & no-one was replying, until I was on my way to somewhere else at about 9:45am & Lucy rang me half asleep saying she could come. so we literally just got the next train we could, meaning we ran across Leeds train station in about a minute like the ninjas we are~

We got into Manchester at about 11:20 and had to actually find the place… we got to the actual venue fine but we couldn’t find the door to get in? we made friends with some girls and went in with them, & literally the first thing I saw was Alex and his bright pink skinny jeans, it was SO surreal to see him! we sat down and bought some packs of cards and then basically taught ourselves how to play because we’d never played, but it turns out that it wasn’t that hard so thats all good!

They started the tournaments at about 1pm; it started off with 30 tables of four chairs & they split everyone off to a table so you were essentially with strangers, & it was SO much fun. I didn’t get any further than the first round but seriously, I had so much fun doing it! we played a few more games while we waited for everyone else to finish which took about 2 hours because there was some random rule~ then I went to go meet Alex & oh my GOD I honestly have never been as nervous in my life & i don’t know why! I brought Parrot Stories to get signed and he seemed genuinely surprised that I brought his album which was nice :3 & he also did a page in my wreck this journal. I babbled something out about his music helping me but I honestly can’t remember his reply…
we then went and talked to Danny for a bit who is SO lovely, he then proceeded to tell Lucy that she was the right height & then call me short & whatnot~ we went into the bar area to generally flail & Lucy was rolling around on the floor for some reason & alex walked in, i was pissing myself laughing omg

We went out for lunch & met some other lovely people, then went back and sat in this “bar” area that was deserted, and in walks the wonderful Danny again! Had a general discussion about the origin of sopio & more height banter & more loooovely hugs. we then just generally milled around, having random conversations/comments with Alex & Danny before the final started. & my GOD that was some intense shit, man. Literally, imagine 120+ people all stood around 4 people playing a card game. :’)

then they had an ~award ceremony & after that had finished we stayed back to help tidy up and whatnot. there was about 30 of us then so they showed us some preview cards of Deck 3 & they look so good! Generally chatted & we threw around ideas for more cards for a bit before we eventually got “kicked out” (they needed to clean up, basically haha!)

more people left and there was about 10 of us. me and Lucy were originally just gonna go home but then Alex suggested that we all went to the canal, so off we went! the walk there included Danny telling us about how he only actually wears red, grey and black & the discussion of anarchy & how he should paint his walls… we got there and took stupid & funny ~emotional shots by the canal with Hannah & Danny :’) generally admired how pretty Manchester is. Then we walked to the train station to drop Kim off & so we could go home. The walk included me and Alex getting into an intense Accent discussion in which he stood and mimicked me for a good 5 minutes & me and Danny generally taking the piss out of Alex’s clothes…

We got to the station & Kim had to go but our trains were pretty frequent so we didn’t really want to move just yet!
I ended up getting into a discussion with Alex about whether he thought Blaine should transfer or not during episode one in which I became the spoiler queen… & then about Dalton & the extras etc, it was nice to talk to someone who was on the same wavelength about Dalton! Then Danny joined in for a bit then wandered back off to Lucy. I asked him which house group he was in & I’m not saying which house he’s in because its kinda a thing that he’s not told anyone via the internet yet, but it caused a lot of banter between us in which he said I was true to my house because I’m judgemental and thats all I’m saying for now~

Then he started flipping out about how his Sharpie was metal……. the conversation went something like;
“LOOK AT THIS PEN”
“….alex, its just a pen”
“ITS METAL”
“yeah, but its just a pen”
“BUT ITS ENGRAVED! LOOK!”
Which then led to alex walking around everyone and making people feel the engraved name, wierdo. someone then pulled out a Dalek pen that had 10 colours on it so a fucking war broke loose about whose pen was better and why, oh god it was so funny!

we then had to leave, but oh my daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays! Alex Day’s fricking hugs. I was like “it was lovely to finally meet you!” & he was all “it was good to meet you too!” & i was just stood dying on the inside, but he hugged me for so long & so tight & sdjfhskjfhskdjfhskjfhskjfhskjfhsjkfh [/fangirl]. then said goodbye to Danny & went for our train on which we sat and played sopio and contemplated whether the day was real.

I’m not even sure I can word it. the fact that I could be so relaxed around not only alex & Danny but everyone else, I literally knew no-one but Lucy & Danny a bit, but i felt like i’d known everyone my whole life. I just love the sense of community and togetherness in the youtube/dftba fandom.
today has been incredible.
